Xin Qian is currently a Professor at the Department of Engineering Thermophysics, School of Energy and Power Engineering at HUST. Before joining HUST, he was a postdoctoral associate at MIT with Prof. Gang Chen from 2019 to 2021. In 2019, he obtained his Ph.D in mechanical engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder with an Outstanding Dissertation Award (single awardee per year). Xin Qian focused on combining theory, pump-probe characterizations with machine learning techniques for in-depth understanding transport and energy conversion physics in complex condensed matters, including semiconductors, layered van der Waals materials, complex crystals, and liquid/gel electrolytes. He has received research fundings from National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and Naitional Key R&D Program from the Mnistry of Science and Technology of China. Xin Qian has published articles in top journals in energy, applied physics, and chemical physics, including Science, Nature Materials, Advanced Materials, Nano Energy, Applied Physics Letters, Physical Review B, Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, etc.
